Top 10 Hallmark Movie Couples

A few weeks ago, I decided I wanted to know who the Hallmarkies favorite fictional couples were. So, I took a poll on my Twitter and on the Offical Hallmark Channel Fan Facebook group and asked who everyone’s top five fictional couples were in hopes to get a variety of responses. My goal was to get 100 responses and I got 99. Woot woot!

When I started calculating the results, I realized there was one disadvantage— the top six couples were from series. Of course they would be the top couples because as stories develop over years, we become so invested in these couples. There’s more of an emotional attachment than when we see a couple in a movie and they live their happily ever after once the movie wraps.

I decided that I would break this into two posts. Today, I’m sharing the top ten fictional couples from Hallmark movies. Wednesday, I’ll be sharing the top ten fictional couples from Hallmark series (and I’ve considered a series is three or more installments).

Before we get started— any guesses as to who the top ten favorite fictional couples are?

Let’s get started!

Nick and Molly from The Perfect Bride and The Perfect Bride: Wedding Bells

Starring: Kavan Smith and Pascale Hutton

Former marriage counselor turned trainer, Molly offers yoga and advice to couples in her “Bridal and Marriage Boot Camps.” Her boyfriend Nick is in the same happy boat as a former wedding photographer. Each is afraid of repeating past mistakes by seeking perfection but they remember that nothing really matters except their perfect love.

If you loved Nick and Molly from The Perfect Bride and Perfect Bride: Wedding Bells, you’ll also love them in Hallmark’s hit series, When Calls the Heart!

You’ll also enjoy Kavan Smith in Wedding Bells ( with Danica McKellar) and Hello, It’s Me (with Kellie Martin).  Kavan’s newest movie Love on the Menu, with Autumn Reeser, premieres in just a few weeks.

If you want to see more of Pascale Hutton, you can see her in Summer of Dreams and Wedding of Dreams (starring Debbie Gibson). Pascale plays Debbie’s sister and it’s a definitely a fun dynamic.

Colin and Alex from Pearl in Paradise

Starring Jill Wagner and Kris Polaha

Alex hopes to be Creative Director of her magazine if she photographs the blue pearl Colin wrote about in Pearl in Paradise. He hopes that by writing a guest article he’ll boost his failing sales. The two decide to keep searching for the rare pearl in Fiji, neither aware yet that finding true love could just be the rarest adventure of all!

Most recently, Jill Wagner and Kris Polaha have starred together in Mystery 101, which I really enjoyed! I’m hoping it gets picked up as a series, because I really enjoyed their chemistry.

You can see Jill Wagner in Christmas in Evergreen: Letters to Santa, Maggie’s Christmas Miracle, Christmas Cookies, and Autumn Dreams. Kris Polaha has starred in Small Town Christmas, Rocky Mountain Christmas, Hearts of Christmas, and the Dater’s Handbook.

NINE || Corey and Tyler from Season for Love

Starring Marc Blucas and Autumn Reeser

It’s been years since Tyler and Corey saw each other, and now they’re both back home competing in Red Rock’s annual BBQ cook-off. It could be the heat of competition, but sparks have really been flying between these two. While no one is sure who’ll win the cook-off, it might just be all of Red Rock.

Marc Blucas has starred in Miss Christmas, Operation Christmas, and The Irresistable Blueberry Farm.

Autumn Reeser is no stranger to Hallmark as she has starred in multiple movie, including A Bramble House Christmas, Valentine Ever After, A Country Wedding and more. Her newest movie, Love on the Menu, opposite of Kavan Smith, is coming out at the end of the month.

EIGHT || Zachary and Marilee from Nine Lives of Christmas

Starring Brandon Routh and Kimberley Sustad

“With Christmas approaching, a handsome fireman afraid of commitment adopts a stray cat and meets a beautiful veterinary student who challenges his decision to remain a confirmed bachelor.”

Nine Lives of Christmas seem to be a Hallmarkie favorite and rightfully so! It’s definitely a fun movie if you haven’t seen it yet. Kimberley Sustad recently starred in A Godwink Christmas with Paul Campbell. She also appeared briefly in Chesapeake Shores (season 3).

SEVEN || Gage and Madison (Welcome to Christmas)

Starring Eric Mabius and Jennifer Finnigan

“Sheriff Gage McBride and the residents of tiny Christmas, Colorado work to convince resort developer Madison Lane to build her company’s newest resort nearby, which will save the struggling town. Workaholic Madison finds herself falling for the charming town, as well as the kind and handsome widowed sheriff.”

The POstables are a force with their support for Eric Mabius! Eric has starred in How to Fall in Love and is the leading man in the Hallmark Movies hit series, Signed, Sealed, Delivered. Jennifer Finnigan has starred in Walking the Dog and Angel of Christmas.

Morgan and Jen from Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Starring Brooke Burns and Warren Christie

“When a single mom who wants nothing but for Christmas to be over finds herself intrigued by a weary traveler her eccentric uncle brings home during the holidays, his curious antics cause her to question her own life?”

If you like the mystery movies, you’ll like Brooke Burns in the Gourmet Detective series. She is also in Christmas Connection and Undercover Bridesmaid.

Aiden and Jessie from A Bride for Christmas

Starring Andrew Walker and Arielle Kebbel

“A bet brings together a three-time bride-to-be (Arielle Kebbel) and a chronically single charmer (Andrew Walker) for an unexpected Christmas romance.”

Arielle Kebbel and Andrew Walker also starred together in Bridal Wave. Andrew Walker is one of the Kings of Hallmark and has appeared in multiple movies including Love in Design, Wedding March 4, My Secret Valentine, Love Struck Cafe, the Perfect Catch, and many others. He also had a brief stint on When Calls the Heart in season one as the infamous Billy Hamilton.

FIVE || Ben and Cara from One Winter Weekend and One Winter Proposal

Starring Jack Turner and Taylor Cole

“Cara and Ben return to the resort where they fell in love a year earlier. They invite her friend Megan, hoping she’ll reconnect with Ben’s friend Sean, now the resort’s doctor. During the trip Cara finds a jewelry receipt, leading her to expect a proposal from Ben, but a misunderstanding may ice his plan.”

These movies are definitely on my DVR to watch and I plan to do so this weekend! Jack Turner and Taylor Cole were paired up previously for My Summer Prince. Taylor Cole was recently the star of the Ruby Herring mystery that recently premiered. She also starred in Falling for You, Christmas Festival of Ice, Christmas in Homestead and The Art of Us

FOUR || Emily and Henry from Love at the Thanksgiving Day Parade

Starring Antonio Cupo and Autumn Reeser

“As Chicago gears up for its annual Thanksgiving Day parade, an eager parade coordinator is shocked when a wealthy new development consultant is brought in to analyze the parade’s finances. Faced with the challenge of teaching him that the parade means so much more to her than dollar signs, she suddenly finds herself reluctantly falling for him.”

Antonio Cupo and Autumn Reeser starred together in I Do, I Do, I Do. Antonio Cupo was a guest on the Garage Sale Mystery: Pandora’s Box (a super fun one) and In My Dreams. He also starred in For Better or for Worse,

THREE || Donovan Darcy and Elizabeth Scott from Unleashing Mr. Darcy and Marrying Mr. Darcy

Starring Ryan Paevey and Cindy Busby

“Blissfully in love and newly engaged to the handsome, wealthy Donovan Darcy, schoolteacher Elizabeth Scott looks forward to planning a small autumn ceremony with help of her mother, sister and fiancé. Given their different backgrounds and temperaments, Elizabeth can’t help but ask herself: should she really marry Mr. Darcy?”

If you love dogs and the Pride and Prejudice storyline, you’ll love the Unleashing Mr. Darcy story. It’s a fun and quirky spin on the original Pride and Prejudice. You can also read my review on Marrying Mr. Darcy here.

Cindy Busby is no stranger to Hallmark as she has appeared in Season 4 of When Calls the Heart and a few episodes of Cedar Cove. She also starred in Royal Hearts. Ryan Paevey was just in Hope at Christmas as well as Harvest Love.

TWO || Harold and Annie from How to Fall in Love

Starring Eric Mabius and Brooke D’Orsay

“Still suffering from the ugly-duckling syndrome that branded his youth, Harold White (Eric Mabius) hires Annie Hayes (Brooke D’Orsay), the popular girl he had a crush on in high school to be his personal dating coach and help him shed his wallflower approach to romance?”

As mentioned earlier, Eric Mabius fans will love him in Hallmark Movies and Mysteries Channel’s Signed, Sealed, Delivered and the previously mentioned Welcome to Christmas.

Brooke D’Orsay has recently starred with Daniel Lissing in Christmas In Love. She was also in Miss Christmas and June in January.

And finally…*drumroll* the number ONE mentioned favorite couple is…

ONE || Seth and Layla from A December Bride

Starring Daniel Lissing and Jessica Lowndes

Aspiring interior designer Layla O’Reilly is dreading the Christmastime wedding of her cousin who’s marrying Layla’s ex-fiancé. Although Seth Murphy is the one responsible for introducing the bride and groom, she begrudgingly accepts his offer to be her date as she’s out of options. Seth gets carried away at the reception and announces they’re engaged, forcing a mortified Layla to keep up the pretense. But as the faux couple spends more time together they find themselves feeling something very real. Based on the book by bestselling author Denise Hunter.

I can’t blame the Hallmarkies for naming Seth and Jessica as the number one Hallmark movie couple of all time! December Bride was such a fun movie and who doens’t love Daniel Lissing and Jessica Lowndes?

If you aren’t familiar with Daniel Lissing, you can find in him as Mountie Jack in When Calls the Heart (Seasons 1-5). As mentioned earlier, he also starred in Christmas In Love with Brooke D’Orsay.

Jessica Lowndes starred in Merry Matrimony with Christopher Russell, Magical Christmas Ornaments with Brendan Penny, and most recently Christmas at Pemberley Manor with Michael Rady. Jessica was in Yes, I Do last summer as well.

I had so much fun hearing from different Hallmarkies and my interest in some of these movies have piqued. A few of my favorite couples not mentioned here include Molly and Ryan from The Bridge, Sam and Heath from Chance at Romance, Lacey and Zach from Falling for You, Molly and Nick from Wedding Bells (the Kavan/Danica movie, not to be confused with The Perfect Bride).

Who are your favorites? Are there any couples not mentioned that surprised you? Let me know in the comments or send me a tweet @hallmarkmywords.

  1. Normally, I’d just tweet to you, but with limited characters this is easier!

    My Top 10 Hallmark Couples
    10. Colin and Alex (Pearl in Paradise)
    9. Corey and Tyler (Season for Love)
    8. Zachary and Marilee (The Nine Lives of Christmas)
    7. Bradley and Sarah (A Country Wedding)
    6. Donovan and Elizabeth (Unleashing Mr. Darcy)
    5. Henry and Helen (Very, Very Valentine)
    4. Elliot and Cassie (Winter Love Story)
    3. Ben and Cara (One Winter Weekend)
    2. Brian and Jenny (All of My Heart)
    1. Seth and Layla (A December Bride)

This is roughly my list as of now!

    1. I just saw Taylor and Jack (from One weekend) in the Prince movie. He is the irascible Prince and she takes her bosses’ place in trying to restrain the Prince from doing “not so royal” activities! They are so perfect together! They seem to be having a wonderful time while making these movies! For now, they are my #1 couple. Andrew Walker and Lacey come in for a close #2!

  2. I concur with Daniel Lissing and Jessica Lowndes as the #1 couple! I had never seen any of their work before this movie. They were absolutely charming together. I became a big fan of both of them. DECEMBER BRIDE is a great quality Hallmark Christmas Movie all around with a wonderful supporting cast. I wish Hallmark would either do a sequel to this movie or cast Jessica and Daniel in another of their movies.

  3. Good list, Kaycee! For me, two of my favorite couples from a Hallmark movie are Kelly and Stephen from Cooking with Love and Sara and Daniel from Royally Ever After. Speaking of favorite Hallmark movie couples, I have an awards on my blog called the Gold Sally Awards. It is a series of polls where all the nominations are Hallmark movie related. In fact, two of the polls are called “Best On-Screen Couple from a Hallmark Channel movie” and “Best On-Screen Couple from a Hallmark Movies & Mysteries movie”. Here’s the link to the first two polls:

If you want, spread the word about the Gold Sally Awards!
