I know. I’m the worst at blogging, changing names, etc. etc. etc. But I’m back!
My blog has changed and evolved over the years. I’ve started and stopped, changed directions, changed names, changed directions again, became discouraged, became reinspired, repeat X3 or 4 times, and now here we are.
What am I doing here? I don’t even know. I just know that #1: I love to write. #2: I am always thinking about something random. Maybe it’s about faith and encouragement. Maybe it’s about the latest Hallmark movie. Maybe it’s about random kid shenanigans. Whatever it is, here I am sharing the thoughts of my messy, random, beautiful brain.
To ease back into the blogging world, I figured I’d just join in on the “What’s Up Wednesday” linkup.
What We’re Eating This Week
Tacos are a go-to meal around here because it’s quick and easy. Brown the meat, add the taco seasoning, grab a bunch of random food that may sound good in a taco, and BOOM. Dinner is served in 20 minutes.
Here’s a quick life hack I accidentally discovered. Salad kits for taco toppings.
Here’s the thing. A week or so ago, Publix had a sale on these salad kits, so I grabbed a few for my lunch. A week rolled by and I found back myself at the grocery store looking for shredded lettuce. The shredded lettuce looked, well, sad, so I went off my merry way completely forgetting the whole reason I was looking at the shredded lettuce to begin with. Yesterday, I was standing in the kitchen prepping our tacos when I realized we had no shredded lettuce. But then I found this salad kit and I figured, hey, cabbage is basically the same as shredded lettuce.
It was a HUGE hit! In fact– it was gone by the end of the evening. Mind you, my husband isn’t a huge cabbage person and neither am I. But this was SUCH a good hack.

What I’m Reminiscing About
Last weekend, I went to a ladies retreat and the topic was friendship. I walked away feeling quite pensive. It’s an odd way to feel after such a wonderful, fun, and refreshing retreat. However, I realized so many things about friendship that I learned as a teenager that are just simply not true anymore. For example– it’s better to have a few close friends than a hundred acquaintances.
News flash for me: we need both.
But then, here’s where my mind went– what really, truly is friendship?
What I’m Loving
I am loving Starbucks sweet cream cold brew coffee. It’s my new go-to. #byePSL.
What We’ve Been Up To
We’ve been up to a whirlwind of family events lately. I think the family birthday season is over… for at least a few weeks.
What I’m Dreading
I’m dreading the possibility of another hurricane. And I’m also dreading stepping outside to get the mail because it’s still a million degrees outside. Blehhhh. We need a cold front or rain pretty badly!
What I’m Working On
I’m just working on figuring out the direction of my blog and what I want to write about for the rest of the year. I just want to finish this year strong.
What I’m Excited About
Sweater weather. If it ever comes.
What I’m Watching
Y’all know I’m watching Hallmark. But lately, it’s been the Brady Renovation. Next to Hallmark, HGTV is my next tv love. And next to that is Food Network because Halloween Wars is starting! Woo hoo!
What I’m Reading
If you know me well, you know I am a huge personality test nerd. And my #1 personality thingymajig is the ENNEAGRAM. Say it with me… “en-knee-ah-gram.”
I am on the book launch team for Beth and Jeff McCord’s book Becoming Us: Using the Enneagram to Create a Thriving Gospel-Centered Marriage. It has been such a great read. The best thing is that you do not have to be an enneagram expert to understand the enneagram and how it ties into relationships. I’ll do a whole book review later this week.
What I’m Listening To
Lately, I’ve been listening to Christy Wright’s Business Boutique podcast. I’m a huge nerd when it comes to small business and even though I don’t have a business, this stuff fascinates me.
What I’m Wearing
Black running shorts from Target (similar) and my church ministry shirt.
What I’m Doing This Weekend
This weekend, we’re just doing family stuff– running errands, hanging with the fam, that sort of thing.
What I’m Looking Forward to Next Month
Listen, just the fact it’s October makes everything okay.
What Else Is New
I guess other than me being back– that’s all for now folks!
Stay tuned for:
- A post on friendship
- My long-awaited review of the 1970 version of Anne of Avonlea
- My review on Becoming Us
Have a happy Wednesday!
